Ryan Ahearn completed his undergraduate career at Colby College in May of 2007 with a B.A. in Religious Studies.  Introduced to nature’s wonders at a young age by his father, a graduate of the College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University, he has steadily developed an increasing interest in environmental preservation. Accumulating backcountry experience through numerous expeditions throughout New England and the Rockies, he has become quite comfortable with primitive living along the way and also acquired the skills of an avid mountaineer.  A graduate of NOLS and former president of the Colby Mountaineering Club, he greatly values the opportunity to share his love and knowledge of the wilderness with others, a knowledge he hopes to expand with a four month trek through South America following the bike trip.  Outside of the wilderness, Ryan feels most at home inside the classroom, and plans to pursue a career in education.
